Are Downloads Continue in Sleep Mode Windows 81

Hi all. 1. Will the download have continued from the point where it was before it went to sleep or will it have had to restart again from the beginning? Thanks, in advance for any help/feedback with this
I have Power Options on my Desktop PC set to defaults..i.e Balanced is set to 10 minutes for display and 30 minutes for Sleep.
Yesterday I went to Windows Store to download the Windows 8.1 Update to update my Windows 8.
I clicked the download button and went to watch TV while it downloaded. After a while I noticed that my PC had gone to sleep. I pressed the sleep button on my keyboard to wake the PC up. I wasn't sure if the Windows 8.1 Update would just resume where it was before it went into Sleep mode or whether I would have to start the download again by going back into the Windows Store to download it again from the beginning. After waking my PC up I decided to just leave it at the desktop screen to see what happened. 3 hours later the message came up saying that the PC needed to be restarted to install the update. When I have downloaded the Windows Update in the past it usually takes 2 hrs and 15 mins but I noticed that Microsoft have changed the Windows 8.1 Update slightly since I last installed it so I wasn't sure if that accounted for the download taking longer than usual. Some of the Download options/screens are different on the latest version so the Windows 8.1 Update has definitely been altered slightly.
2. I was just slightly concerned that because my PC went to sleep during the Windows 8.1 Update (and it is such an important Update) that it might have got corrupted in some way. Everything seemed to Install correctly afterwards. Is what happened normal and nothing to be concerned about?

If you go to THIS PAGE and then click on "Check for operating system info in Windows 8.1 or Windows RT8.1"
....follow the prompts there ....in step #3 you will be shown the version and edition that your PC is running. You should see windows 8.1
If there had been any corruption at all.....you would 1. probably have problems starting your pc
2. The O/s shown would still be windows 8
I assume that your PC has rebooted/been turned off and on since your update....then all is well.
Is the pc connecting to windows updates properly?

Yeah..it shows Windows 8.1 is installed.
I have shut down and restarted my PC several times without issues.
It has connected to Windows Updates Ok. The only issue I had there was Windows Update downloaded and installed successfully the same Defender definitions four times before it finally moved onto the next available definitions and then installed that successfully too without a problem. All is normal with the definitions now so Im presuming that was just a Windows Defender definition glitch. There wasn't any problems with any other Windows Updates at all

I would have confidence in what you have done.

You should be okay, I was installing the Win 8.1 update at a neighbours house and the power went off twice.
The download simply restarts.
There does appear to be a Windows Defender update problem,recently I have had updates appearing multiple times and the system has Defender turned off by Mcafee.

Were you in the middle of downloading or had you finished downloading the Windows 8.1 update and had done the restart and was in the middle of the installation process? When you say the 8.1 download simply restarts. Did you have to go back to the Store to restart it or did it just resume the download when you turned the PC back on from the same point before your power was cut off . In my case I didn't do anything except wake the computer up from sleep mode and a couple of hours later a message popped up saying the download was finished and it was ready to restart and install
I would have confidence in what you have done.

Yeah Andrei..that seems to be what happened in my case. I didn't have to do anything. I just woke the PC up from sleep mode. It seems to have automatically picked the download up from where it left off and without me doing anything else a couple of hours later it said it was downloaded and was greeted with the instruction to Restart PC to install 8.1

1.Thanks very much for your feedback. Is it normal behaviour then for a desktop PC to go to sleep in the middle of the WIndows 8.1 Update download? It was something I wasn't expecting to happen because I thought the download would be seen as activity and prevent the PC from going to sleep.
That's why I was worried in case it didn't resume the download but instead started the download right from the beginning again when I woke it from Sleep mode
2 Are Windows Updates, The Windows 8.1 Update/Upgrade, Windows Store Apps all treated the same way i.e if the download gets interrupted in anyway through sleep mode activating itself or a power failure etc, it will automatically resume from the point where it was before the interruption when the PC is powered up again?
